Storm Ciaran Passing
Part of my Storm Series
I was inspired by the huge crashing waves and headline photographs of lighthouses and harbours during storm season. Given I love being on, in or near the water, I decided to give it a go painting with my water-based oils. This medium allows me the freedom of texture and form, using my pallet knives to swish and scrape the rise, fall and smashing of the sea. I enjoyed finding the colour palette for the sea and sky to create the menacing storm as it moves on, leaving a glimmer of light behind the clouds, and a rocky sea with bouncing boats.
This oil painting is on canvas board and is framed in a traditional wood setting to complement the depth of the painting.
Signed, framed, 53cms by 43cms.
